Games Not Showing in Library

Why Games Might Not Show in Your Library

There are several reasons why games you've purchased might not be immediately visible in your Steam library:

  • The game may be hidden in your library
  • You might be logged into the wrong account
  • The library view might be filtered in a way that hides certain games
  • Steam might need to be restarted to refresh the library
  • In rare cases, there might be an issue with your Steam installation

Method 1: Find and Unhide Games Using Search

This is the most common solution and works for most cases where games are hidden but still in your library:

1

Open Your Steam Library

In Steam, click on the "Library" tab at the top of the window to view your games.

2

Search for the Game

Use the search bar at the top of your library to search for the exact name of the game you purchased.

3

Look for "+HIDDEN" Label

If the game is hidden, you'll see "+HIDDEN" below the search results. Click on the "+" sign to expand and show the hidden game.

If you don't see "+HIDDEN" but still don't see your game in normal view, try clearing all filters in your library view.

4

Unhide the Game

Right-click on the game and select "Management" > "Remove from Hidden". The game should now appear normally in your library.

Method 2: View and Manage All Hidden Games

If you want to see all your hidden games at once:

1

Open View Menu

In Steam, click on "View" in the top menu bar.

2

Select Hidden Games

Click on "Hidden Games" in the dropdown menu. This will show all games you've hidden in your library.

3

Unhide Games

Find the game you want to unhide, right-click on it, and select "Management" > "Remove from Hidden".

Method 3: Check Library Filters

Steam allows you to filter your library view, which might inadvertently hide games:

1

Clear All Filters

In your library, look at the top for any active filters (like "Games", "Software", etc.). Make sure to select "All" to see everything.

2

Check "All Games" View

Click on the dropdown above your game list that might say "Games" or another category, and select "All Games" to make sure you're seeing your entire library.

3

Verify the "Installed" Filter is Off

Make sure the "Installed" filter is not active if you haven't installed the game yet. Look for and uncheck any active filters in the library view.

Additional Troubleshooting

Verify You're Using the Correct Account

Double-check that you're logged into the right Steam account. Look at the account name in the bottom-right corner of the Steam client.

Restart Steam

Sometimes, simply restarting Steam will refresh your library and show newly purchased games. Completely exit Steam (right-click the Steam icon in your system tray and select "Exit") and then restart it.

Check the Purchase Confirmation

Verify that the purchase was completed successfully by checking your purchase history:

  1. Click on your account name in the top-right corner of Steam
  2. Select "Account details"
  3. Click on "View purchase history"
  4. Confirm that your Game Hub purchase appears in the list
